Backend Engineer
We're hiring a Backend Engineer who wants to own services that a Swedish household actually depends on.
Elvy helps Swedish households produce, store and use their own renewable energy. Solar, batteries, heat pumps and electricity retail, all from one partner. Our backend is the nervous system that connects sales, installation, inverter telemetry, grid data, billing and the customer app.
What you'll do
Design and ship services that run critical customer-facing flows (contracts, installations, billing, energy optimisation).
Integrate with inverter APIs, grid data, and external providers like Scayl and WayToBill.
Keep the platform boring. Boring is good. Boring means the installer sees the right data on-site and the customer sees the right kWh on their bill.
Mentor without gatekeeping. Review code in a way you'd want your code reviewed.
Who you are
Strong on fundamentals. Data modelling, HTTP, queues, consistency trade-offs. You pick the right tool, not the trending one.
Production-minded. You think about what breaks at 3am before you think about what looks nice in a demo.
Direct. You tell the PM the feature is 80% complex for 20% value. Then you help find the 20%.
Swedish or English. We code in English, our customers are Swedish, and you only need the first.
Current stack:
