Senior Engineer
We're hiring a Senior Engineer who wants to be a tech lead without becoming a Jira manager.
Elvy helps Swedish households produce, store and use their own renewable energy. Solar, batteries, heat pumps and electricity retail, all from one partner. We're growing the tech team and need someone who can shape the architecture across services, mentor without gatekeeping, and still ship code every week.
What you'll do
Own large cross-cutting initiatives: platform reliability, data model evolution, integration strategy.
Shape the engineering culture by example. Code review, design docs, post-mortems that people read.
Set direction on build-vs-buy. We're pragmatic, not NIH.
Still ship. You'll spend at least half your time in the editor.
Who you are
Deep experience across the stack. You've built and operated distributed systems, owned on-call, made decisions that survived contact with a growing team.
Low ego, high bar. You raise the level of the team without making anyone feel small.
Business-aware. You've worked close to a P&L, or you want to.
Direct. You say "this will take twice as long as we think" before the sprint, not after.
Current stack:
Frontend: React app in JS/TS, built on Panda CSS (sadly) and TanStack, deployed on Vercel.
Backend: FastAPI in Python, containerized with Docker and deployed on GCP.
Claude is doing alot of things to.
Practical information
Location: Elvy HQ, hybrid (2-3 days in office)
Employment: Full-time, permanent
Compensation: Market rate for the role and experience, we share the range at first call
Start: Flexible
Don't match everything? Apply anyway. Senior is a posture, not a line on a CV.
Help us build a tech team that outlasts any single framework trend.
